An annual boiler service is essential for keeping your boiler running smoothly and safely.

A faulty boiler could waste money on energy and expensive repairs.

Who should service my boiler

  • You should get your boiler serviced once a year by a trained technician.
  • It is illegal for anybody other than a Registered Gas Installer to service a gas boiler.
  • A trained technician will also check if the boiler is correctly installed and operating in a suitable manner.
  • You should ensure the person servicing the boiler is using a flue gas analyser to ensure correct combustion.
  • It’s also worth getting a carbon monoxide detector.

What happens during the service?

Oil boiler service:

  • Remove and clean baffles.
  • Inspect the internal surface of the boiler.
  • Inspect combustion door gasket.
  • Replace nozzle and flexible oil line.
  • Check oil supply pipe, oil filter, isolation valves, fire valves.
  • Check oil pressure.
  • Clean and check condense trap (condensing boiler)
  • Run the boiler to temperature and check exhaust with flue gas analyser, making any necessary adjustments to achieve best efficiency.
  • Carry out a visual inspection on your oil tank.
  • Complete a CD11 service sheet and print out flue gas analysis.
  • Check operation of any controls, thermostats etc. and ensure all radiators are working correctly.

Gas boiler service:

Your boiler must be working in order to carry out a service, if not see boiler breakdowns.

  • Check pipework from the meter to ensure no leaks, ensure correct standing pressure and operation of regulator.
  • Complete boiler service as per MI (manufacturer’s instructions).
  • Run the boiler to temperature and check exhaust with flue gas analyser, making any necessary adjustments to achieve manufacturers recommended figures.
  • Complete a Cert 3 service report.
  • Check operation of any controls, thermostats etc. and ensure all radiators are working correctly.

Boiler breakdowns:

If your boiler breaks down or is not working for any reason, it may be difficult to know who to call.

Even a boiler that is serviced annually can break down at any stage. The first port of call is your regular service technician. It is important when you call a service technician to let them know the boiler is not working. Arnie Services Ltd. have an Annual Service Plan Click Here. For a fixed fee each year, you will have your annual serviced completed and in the event of a boiler breakdown, there is no call out charge to diagnose the fault. There are some restrictions, and the plan is only open to certain locations.
